Philosophy

At Active Learning Nursery École our main focus is to prepare your child to enter a French Immersion program. In our opinion this is a huge undertaking and thus must be approached with a serious desire to learn. Our focus is:

• Test English vocabulary and enunciation skills so that we can be certain that their English is strong enough that they will be able to handle the undertaking of another language
• We take a strong interest in ensuring that your child can handle the manners and social etiquette of a school-based environment wherein they are able to wait their turn without becoming upset or work with another classmate on a project.
• We work with your child to develop their attention span where they can focus on one task without easily becoming distracted.

  

Our approach takes into consideration your child’s emotional maturity and their cognitive stamina when we determine how much class participation we expect from them, as all children develop and mature at different rates.

 

For your child to enter such a program we must ensure that we offer the highest level of instruction. To attain that we offer one of lowest instructor to student ratios in the City (as low as 1 to 5) so that our instructor can give your child the most one-on-one tutelage while still having the social dynamic of a classroom environment.

 

A child that has only had a one-on-one environment prior to Kindergarten can easily become lost or shy when put into a class with as many as twenty other students and only one teacher.
